Father’s Day is coming around on Sunday 20 June and as I have just written a little Instagram post about World Environment Day, I realised the least I could do was put my two pence in on some green, natural and/or socially conscientious ideas! New parents barely have the space to even think about partners or their own parents so let’s see how our top 5 measures up! 1) Scented Natural Fire Lighters Working on a slightly sexist premise that dads and BBQs are practically synonymous, we loved the sound of these eco-friendly firelighters! £12.99 for 12 from Protect the Planet.

12/3/2021 0 Comments Mother's Day InspirationHi everybody! I’m sure you haven’t forgotten that it’s Mother’s Day this weekend but just maybe you are a little stumped about what gift to purchase. I was speaking with Viv and Joanna yesterday about this very topic when Viv had the idea that our previous winners have some fantastic products for babies and toddlers but many also have some amazing products for mums in their range too. Some of these would make wonderful Mother’s Day gifts and she thought that we could share some of our favourites with you. Even if you have already bought something, perhaps these suggestions could be a little something extra from your little one to their mum or to their nan. Our first suggestion is for Little B Body Lotion. We love this product, not only does it have beautiful pictures of animals on the bottle (you know that animals are always a winner in my book) but this gentle cream hydrates and nourishes skin while using natural ingredients which are great even for those with the most sensitive skin. They do not use animal testing and are vegan friendly. Another great option for a present would be Barr Sweden Multivitamin Facial Cream. This very well loved (not just by us, it has won a whole host of awards) facial cream is a superb treatment for revitalising skin, especially when it is getting a bit dry or lacking in luster. It is both a day and night cream (Yes!!!) and stimulates the pores to improve elasticity and reduce redness.
We also wanted to the awards to stand out more as a quality stamp for high quality products created in an ethically sound manner.
Here is our new logo! Please do let us know what you think! Thanks again for being part of our journey last year. We absolutely love being involved with other organizations who are on the same page as us when it comes to products for someone small! 26/2/2021 0 Comments We're changing our name...Hi Everyone, Spring has sprung, daffodils are popping up, change is in the air, and we also have some big big news for you! Something new and bright is coming to our awards to fully represent us as a team and as a brand, and to help people instantly recognise us! In fact, we’ve been thinking a lot here about our Baby & Toddler Awards, and where we will be going forwards with it. We’ve also been thinking about what the awards mean to us! As a trio with strong links to Italy, and we love anything fun, bright and colourful. We’ve decided on a rebrand. This is a new territory and a big leap, but we want something, fun new and vibrant. So we would like to officially announce the news that we are having a rebrand to become the ‘BAMBINI Baby Awards’. Bambini is Italian for kids / babies and at the same time is international, fun and snazzy. 17/2/2021 0 Comments Toddlers on bikes part IIHi everyone, I hope you are all well and enjoying the sun that has finally joined us. Last week I posted a blog where I described my first son’s experience on the WeeRide balance bike. As I previously mentioned, by two and a half, I could see he was very confident on his balance bike and would whizz around the playground swerving and picking up speed on the contours. I was excited to see if he would be able to manage on a pedal bike. Previously, I’d searched online to find a mid-priced bike which was suitable for toddlers available second-hand and was lucky to find a good bargain on ebay. This time, I found an offer at my Local Halfords. I don’t think this particular model is in production any longer but the green Apollo Marvin the Monkey kids bike was on special offer and I’d noticed a lot of local kids using them. At the store they offered to attach the accompanying stabilizers but I declined while wondering if that would turn out to be a mistake. 6/2/2021 0 Comments Toddlers on bikes Part IHi everyone from all of us at the Baby & Toddler Awards. OK, so my youngest, Eric, is no longer a baby or toddler; he turns five on the first day of Spring. But yesterday was a significant day in our family since it was the first time we were able to go for a proper bike ride all together. Now I don’t want to boast as there’s a lot I’ve got wrong in my fatherhood career so far but I can’t hide how proud I am of both him and his brother when it comes to their bike-riding. Frank, my older son learned to ride a bike (without stabilizers) aged 2 and nine months. Eric learned aged 3.5 months. In this blog I’ll talk you through our journey, the bikes we used and the challenges we faced. Hi everyone, If your little one, like mine, has eczema prone skin then I wanted to let you know about a little all-round miracle bath product which has been specifically been made for babies with eczema prone skin. It's called Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo - Scent Free. This is by the famous natural brand Green People. There's so much to say about this product, but first of all - it's important to mention that it is a 3-in-1 product. A shampoo, body wash but also a bubble bath! This means you are reducing the total number of products going on your delicate baby's skin. It's also good for keeping the number of products on the bathroom shelf to a minimum! As mentioned - it is scent free, as often added perfumes or scents can irritate already delicate skin. Its key ingredients are Organic Aloe Vera, yucca and calming chamomile. 83% of the ingredients are certified organic, which means less nasty pesticides, so again, reducing the chances of your baby's skin reaching triggers or allergens. Just a little product goes a long way for lathering the hair and body, and squirting a little in the bath created a beautiful light foam of bubbles. 20/1/2021 0 Comments Meet our 2020 Winners....Weleda One of the biggest winners at the 2020 Baby & Toddler Awards was the holistic natural cosmetics brand Weleda who walked away with the following awards:

Dan 13/12/2020 0 Comments Choosing Baby Skincare ProductsGood morning mamas & papas!
Today we are going to be looking at things to consider when choosing the right skincare for your baby. Babies have far more sensitive skin than adults. Did you know what most babies will develop a rash in the first 6 months of their lives? Harsh environmental factors such as detergents, soaps, dyes, chemicals, sun and even your jumper can bring your baby out in a rash. Always be sure to check with a doctor though, just in case there isn't something more serious. Here at the Baby & Toddler Awards, we see and try a wide range of baby skincare products. So we've compiled a list of things to consider when choosing skincare for your baby, as creams can provide a protective barrier against environmental factors. At the same time, skincare products themselves can irritate babies, so you need to choose the best product for YOUR baby. Tip 1 - Use your intuition You know your baby best and probably have a feel for when their skin gets irritated or why. So choose products with this in mind. Tip 2 - Do a patch test It goes without saying to do a patch test on your baby when trying out new baby products. Try a small patch on the arm or leg (not face) 24hours to 48 hours before in case there is any reaction Tip 3 - Choose products designed for babies This may sound obvious, but of course baby products have been designed specifically for the sensitive skin of babies. Check the product is dermatologically tested. Tip 4 - Don't overload your baby with skincare Try one cream at a time. Whether you are just trying to keep your baby's skin hydrated and smooth, or you need to find the right nappy cream - try not to overload your baby's skin using multiple products Tip 5 - Don't fix what ain't broke If a skincare product works - stick with it! It's best not to expose your baby to too many types of products. If something works for you and your baby, stick with that product. Tip 6 - Look at the ingredients. Look for things that YOUR BABY needs. Do you need it to be Hypoallergenic? Do you need SPF as it is summer, or maybe it is winter and you have a very fair baby? Is it oil or cream based? Organic ingredients mean there are no harsh pesticides in the ingredients. 'Natural ingredients' this is less regulated, but the idea is, products which ingredients from nature are more packed full of nutrition, are less environmentally harsh and don't contain man-made harsh chemicals. Don't be put off if a product isn't natural though - many SPFs are man-made. Think about your baby, and what your baby needs. |
