Our trip to Legoland Windsor

Hi everyone,

Our Bambini Baby Awards judging panels are in full swing at the moment looking at an amazing of baby, toddler and new parent products and so we thought we'd set our sights for the time-being on days out - which can be great fun for everyone.

Theme parks are a day out activity which we don’t do very often (I’m a zoo guy!) but it’s always a lot of fun and we still talk about our adventures and laugh about all the funny moments we had!

Choosing the right theme park for your little ones is important though, as some are designed more for older children and adults.

On our first trip to Legoland (free tickets thanks to vouchers in a tabloid paper) we had a fantastic day. My son was only three at the time but as soon as he caught wind that we were planning the trip he was really excited. Apparently he already knew more about the theme park than I did!

We went on a Saturday in late September, the weather was mild and we took a picnic to save spending money in the park’s restaurants. Although we arrived early to try and beat the crowds, the park was very busy and there was quite a long wait for our first ride, which was The Dragon. Actually, the queue was still quite fun as it snaked around a big castle which forms part of the ride. Once we got to the front of the queue, we were lucky enough to get seats right at the front of the dragon. It started slowly, going through the inside of the castle. My son was a bit scared but as soon as we came out of the castle and started whizzing around he had the time of his life. Once the ride had finished we went straight back to the queue for another go and this time the wait was much shorter!

Another ride worth the wait was the one where there are construction diggers which you get to operate and you have to scoop up plastic balls and release them into the pit. It was really difficult but lots of fun.

Perhaps my personal highlight was the 4D cinema. A LEGO movie was showing (obviously) and as well as the 3D classes, there was fire, bubbles and shaky seats! Really fun!

There is also a really big splash park with some huge water slides, unfortunately we hadn’t brought swimming gear and the weather wasn’t quite warm enough but it was full of kids having a great time! If you go in the summer, do remember to take your swimming costumes.

Legoland Windsor is definitely suitable for days out with small children. Other parks can be a bit frustrating if they are aimed more at older kids but Legoland offers a fun day out for everyone, but especially little ones.

Do you have any recommendations for great days out with kids? Any secret bargains that you’d like to share or other money saving tips? Perhaps you have some advice on which rides kids really love! Please let us know in the comments!

Ciao for now!

Dan
