Today one of our 2022 Bambini Baby Award entrants has written a guest blog introducing the brilliant backstory to his Rockit Rocker baby products business as well as a fleeting encounter with Tom Cruise!
Nick (my brother-in-law) invented it in 2015 when his three-month-old daughter Abby always woke up in the pushchair when it stopped moving. He noticed this problem affected other weary parents and one evening had a lightbulb moment. He took an old printer apart, salvaged the motor and soldered together a simple control circuit. The resulting prototype worked and the very next day Abby remained asleep even when the pushchair stopped moving. Nick set about developing the prototype with help from myself and another friend and over the next couple of years we turned the original prototype into Rockit, a rocket shaped portable baby rocker that was launched to critical acclaim in 2017.

10/1/2022 0 Comments Hello 2022!My goodness it’s January 2022 and here we are getting ready to launch this year’s Bambini Baby Awards! Last year went very well with an array of impressive entrants including Weleda, True Organic of Sweden, P’URE Papayacare, Dr Botanicals, HerbalLife, TARAMAR, Tiffy & Tallulah, NuSkin and the Babington Soap Co. to name but a few. As well as these amazing skincare brands, we also had the Fairy Sleep Mother helping our parents helping their babies sleep and BabyBlooms gorgeous Luxury Rose Baby Clothes Bouquet showcasing their best in products for a new mum. Our Instagram engagement increased significantly and our reach to mums and dads across the world continued to increase. Last year’s focus was mainly on skincare products for babies, toddlers and new mothers. This year we are expanding categories to include: cleaning and hygiene products, more sleep products, feeding and drinking products, toys, fashion and footwear and travel products. Not only are we growing, we also had so many enquiries on a range of products outside of skincare it was a natural progression to bring in these new products for our team of judges. With parents and carers ever more keen to know the best baby products of course we are now looking at a wealth of items including baby carrier, high chair, nursery bedding, baby bib, bath toy, baby drinking cups baby friendly detergent and breast pump. Same as last year we have a great team of parents and carers with new ones on board as we grow. This year’s awards is launching 26 January 2022 and we cannot wait to see you there! Ciao J, V, D & D!
In the last blog I focused on Nu Skin and its story as one of the biggest brands in skincare as well as the lengths they have gone to to produce green products which are safe for our little ones! Today I’d like to focus on some more recent companies who are making big waves in the industry and raising the bar for everyone when it comes to pure products! Taramar are an Icelandic company, whose origins lie within the University of Iceland where, back in 2015, Professor Gudrun Marteinsdottir PhD in Marine Ecology and Kristberg Kristbergsson, PhD in Food Chemistry, MSc and M.Phil in Food Engineering set about forming a company which created pure skincare products. Dr. Gudrun Marteinsdottir was initially inspired to experiment with creating natural skin care products as a hobby when she discovered that no products on the market were suitable for her own sensitive skin. She then set and achieved a goal of creating bioactive products that were so clean that a baby could even ingest them (although she doesn’t recommend this!) without any harm being done. That really says a lot about how far they have gone to achieve that goal!
Taramar walked away with the following Bambini Baby Awards:
Hi everyone, If your little one, like mine, has eczema prone skin then I wanted to let you know about a little all-round miracle bath product which has been specifically been made for babies with eczema prone skin. It's called Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo - Scent Free. This is by the famous natural brand Green People. There's so much to say about this product, but first of all - it's important to mention that it is a 3-in-1 product. A shampoo, body wash but also a bubble bath! This means you are reducing the total number of products going on your delicate baby's skin. It's also good for keeping the number of products on the bathroom shelf to a minimum! As mentioned - it is scent free, as often added perfumes or scents can irritate already delicate skin. Its key ingredients are Organic Aloe Vera, yucca and calming chamomile. 83% of the ingredients are certified organic, which means less nasty pesticides, so again, reducing the chances of your baby's skin reaching triggers or allergens. Just a little product goes a long way for lathering the hair and body, and squirting a little in the bath created a beautiful light foam of bubbles. Wow, what a year it's been for the 2020 Baby & Toddler Awards.
There's been so much innovation in this year's 2020 Baby & Toddler Awards. We have been astounded by all the brands dedication to ingredients and awareness of natural and sensitive ingredients for their products. There have been some interesting trends this year with the entrants. There is a clear direction from baby and toddler brands to move ever more towards greener and cleaner baby skincare brands and you will see more of this with the winners announcement list. This baby awards has been like none other. In a year as turbulent as 2020, self care (especially for new mums who have been facing many firsts alone) has never been more important. Skincare pick-me-ups are so important for a new mums mental health, as having a new baby can be daunting, and even more so without your usual support network to help you because of lockdown restrictions. Brands, like the ones we have seen entered in this year's 2020 Baby & Toddler Awards, provide new mums with products that often promote healing, soothing or just make life a little easier for them and lockdown a little more bearable. It has never been easy for new mums, with baby blues being a very real and common problem. It is so important for new mums to find time to look after themselves with a little treat or pamper, to help you feel like the 'old' you! We hope reading our winner's list in December you will be inspired by different mother and baby brands which have been tried and tested by real parents. With regards to baby products, 2020 is a year where we really want to protect and nurture our little ones. There are more outdoor walks in what feels like Arctic conditions, and looking after their sensitive skin has never been more important. Other trends we have seen with baby & toddler brands, is of course more baby safe soaps, as it has never been more important to wash those little hands. There has been a range of big name brands and smaller Indy baby care brands, launching their revolutionary and award winning baby and new mum lines on to the market. The quality of the products has been second to none, and our team of judges, who are all parents, have been blown away by the quality of the entrants. We hope you look forward to reading the winners announcement on 15th December. And if you are looking to enter next year's 2021 Baby & Toddler Awards, we will soon be announcing the dates. Who knows what next year will have in store for us, but what we do know, is whatever the world throws at us, humanity is here to look after us and self care really has never been so important. 2/6/2020 0 Comments How to have a pain free birthSo you want a drug-free, pain-free birth?
If you fall pregnant, after the initial wave of emotions, your next thought might go to the actual labour. Here at the Baby & Toddler Awards, we’ve spoken to a group of new mums for their top tips on how they managed their labour, without the drugs. 1. Research! We found that the mums’ with a good idea of what to expect reported the most comfortable experiences. From reading books, chatting to others to watching YouTube videos, those who knew what to expect and were aware of their options had the more positive experiences. 2. Breathing – sounds simple but when in the midst of labour, thinking about your breathing might not be at the forefront of your mind. The mums who had practiced their breathing and/or used birthing apps to help control their breathing gave positive reviews. We were a big fan of an app called ‘Freya’ from the Positive Birth Company which helped with counting your breaths with each surge/contraction. 3. Birthing Pool / Warm Bath – warm water helps to relax the muscles as well as takes the weight so you can go into certain comfortable birthing positions more easily. Some mothers having Birthing Centre/Delivery Suite births also found that in the early stages of labour, whilst at home, a warm bath also helped them manage discomfort before going into the hospital. 4. Gas and air – offered in the hospitals and by homebirth midwives, this mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide gas comes via a mask or mouthpiece that you can hold. The technique here is to draw in long deep breaths in and out at the beginning of a contraction. The mothers who didn’t feel the benefit of gas reported that they were taking short sharp breaths and were not timing it with contractions. 5. TENS machine – all the women asked who used the TENS machine found it had made a noticeable impact on the earlier stages of birth. Standing for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, the TENS machines involve sticking some pads onto your back and pressing the buttons and controlling the intensity of the shocks as they gradually increase. These machines can be hired from a hospital, bought online or in Boots or you can borrow a friend’s – if this is the case we recommend buying new pads, which cost around £6. 6. Positive Mindset/Hypnobirthing – women have given birth for thousands of years and will continue to do so. Their bodies were made to do this! Reading/Watching hypnobirthing or attending classes can really help prepare you mentally, taking you away from it being a medical procedure, to being something perfectly natural. At the end of the day, no matter what kind of birth you have, you soon forget about it because you have a much greater challenge ahead of you…raising your child! However, if you have tips on how you managed pain during your labour, we’d love to hear in the comments section below! Keep an eye out for the winners of our baby awards to see our best picks for baby skincare and mummy skincare before and after the birth too. Hello! Welcome to the Baby & Toddler Awards website. We are part of a community of
organisations which are dedicated to providing the best-quality products for babies and small children while continuously driving forward ideas and innovations that make the world a better place for us all. We are an international team, with offices in London and in Northern Italy. We know how important it is to choose the right products for our families and to spend our money wisely. Sadly, often we can buy equipment for our children which is rarely used and then stashed away just in case it can be used by the next baby to come along or handed-down to a family member or friend. Similarly, we can buy products which despite a hefty price-tag, do not offer the durability we would expect or use quality materials. However, there is also a great wealth of fantastic products on the market and we know that the people behind the products are in this industry for all the right reasons. They love children and want their days (and nights) to be enriched as much as possible with safe and quality equipment. Here at the Baby & Toddler awards, we stringently assess and review the myriad of baby products available in a range of different categories and then, our panel of experts will select the best products as the winners in each category. From a customer’s point of view a legitimate award provides important, independent verification of a product’s suitability within their home and can help them narrow down their choices when faced with a number of options. Internet research can be draining and still leave an element of doubt about their final choice. Industry awards make this all much faster and easier. From a company’s point of view, winning an award after putting in so much blood, sweat and tears into creating and selling a product they truly believe in, is a wonderful way to cap off the journey which started with an idea and ended with a final product on general sale. It’s recognition for the whole team’s effort and the satisfaction gained from winning an award for being great at your job is indescribable. In addition, an attractive winner’s badge not only looks great on the company website but also provides limitless social media marketing opportunities. Furthermore, our Spotlight blogs shine even further light on entrants and winners, linking to product pages and company blogs, spreading the word further and boosting your SEO up the google rankings. Once again, this has nothing but positive results for your company image, morale, visibility and bottom-line. We are proud to be a part of an industry which really makes a difference. Look out for details of our next awards and enter your company into as many categories as is pertinent. Until then, keep up the fantastic work, we all appreciate your efforts! We’ll be back soon with another blog and further info on the next Baby & Toddler awards. |
